Coming from a modest background, he rose to a high social standing and was later ennobled as a baron. Drachenburg Castle became his ambitious project and status symbol; however, Sarter never lived in it, spending his final years in Paris, where he suffered from mental health issues.
Today, Drachenburg Castle is a historical monument and a major attraction in the region. Fully restored, it invites guests to experience the grandeur of past centuries, become inspired by its legends, and appreciate the artistry embodied in every element of the castle.
