Bedasar Grey Marble tesserae for mosaic
A complex grey-brown stone with a crystalline, web-like texture and rust-red branching veins. Bedasar Grey has strong natural character for bark, stone, landscape, abstract movement, and sophisticated earth-toned compositions.
These hand-split natural stone tesserae are prepared for Roman, classical, and contemporary mosaic work, including decorative panels, icons, borders, ornaments, small objects, mixed-media pieces, and educational projects.
Size and finish
Approximate riven working face: 10 × 10, 11 × 10, or 12 × 10 mm. Typical tessera height is approximately 5–6 mm. Because every piece is split by hand, individual tesserae can be slightly thinner or thicker and may vary in shape.
Supplied loose and not mesh-mounted. The tesserae are ready to use and can also be adjusted with mosaic nippers or with a traditional hammer and hardie.
Pack sizes and coverage
Available pack sizes: 250 g, 500 g, and 1 kg. The tesserae are sold by weight, so the number of pieces in each pack varies with stone density and individual piece size.
As a practical guide, approximately 250 g covers about 10 × 10 cm. Actual coverage depends on stone density, tessera size, joint width, layout, and mosaic technique.
Natural stone characteristics
Natural stone varies from batch to batch and from piece to piece. Veins, mineral inclusions, colour shifts, small edge chips, microfissures, and surface differences are normal characteristics rather than defects. Product photos are representative; the pack you receive will be unique.
Planning and grouting
For projects that need consistent colour matching, order the full quantity at once and allow approximately 10–15% extra for selection, cutting, and fitting.
Test grout, adhesive, and any sealer on a spare tessera before completing the project, especially with porous or pale stone, because moisture and pigments can temporarily or permanently affect the appearance.
